I am having problems communicating with my AFC Software and suspect multiple spindle Axis Units have multiple versions of Firmware running.  How do I know what version of Firmware the Axis Unit is running?

Axis Units in multiple spindled systems using the Multi Unit must have the same version of firmware running.  Individual Axis Units not using the Multi Unit may run with different versions of firmware however, they may act slightly different due to differences in the firmware versions.  The firmware is contained in flash ROM in the Axis unit, and must be powered up for retrieval of the version number.

There are two methods to display the Axis Unit Firmware version number.  With the Axis Display Unit attached to an Axis Unit, place the Axis into bypass using the bypass switch on the Axis front panel. Depress the mode button 3 times and the up arrow key once (PARM. No. 00   DATA NO. 01) .  The Firmware version is displayed in the data area (upper characters) of the display.

The Axis Firmware version can also be displayed using the AFC Software.  With the software running and connected to the Axis unit(s), click on the "Axis" main pulldown menu and select "Axis Software Version".  The software will ask you if you would like to upload this information from the Axis unit(s).  Click "Yes", and the Axis Firmware versions will be retrieved and displayed from the units.
