AFC 1500 Features - State of the Art Hardware

- Space-Saving Design:
FEC has applied the latest digital and
surface-mount technology to develop a modular, more compact design for the
AFC1500 fastening system allowing for reduced plant floor space.
The SAN Unit (fastening
controller) features a combined servo drive & fastening controller all
in the same unit. The Multi
Unit (Multiple spindle controller) features modular I/O interfaces,
communication ports and high speed control of up to 31 spindles.
- Energy Efficient:
Full digital motor control allows for
high efficiency and accuracy
- Flexible I/O:
You choose the I/O interface on the Multi Unit! From 24VDC Discrete I/O to any
number of Fieldbus interfaces, connection to AFC 1500 is flexible.
Available modular interfaces: Sink / Source 24VDC Discrete I/O, DeviceNet,
Allen-Bradley Remote I/O, Profibus, InterBus-S, CC Link, Modbus Plus and
more!
- Data Communication Interfaces
(Multi Unit):
RS232C (COM1) Printer, PLC Data Output
RS232C (COM2) Bar Code, ID System Input (For part ID data marriage)
RS232C (COM3) Additional Output Port
Ethernet Port dedicated for AFC Software PC connection
Optional Data Ethernet Connection
QDAS &
Toolsnet Connectivity
- Motor / Tool
Assembly
The highly durable tool assembly includes a permanent magnet
resolver motor with a field proven planetary gear transmission and high
precision strain gage based torque transducer. They are available
in a wide range of configurations including;
Straight,
Offset,
Right-Angle,
"U" style and new, smaller, high
speed versions.
- Tool ID Function:

Micro-device Located in the
torque transducer preamp
for tool info, automatic tool ID & calibration.
- System Memory:
Up to 16 sets of fastening parameters can be stored in Flash ROM
for "on-the-fly" set-up changes. Additionally, up to 10,000 cycles
of fastening data is stored in each SAN3 controller. No battery
back-up of memory is required.
- Servo and Motor Protection
Functions:
Overcurrent, Overload, Abnormal Voltage, Abnormal Temperature,
Short Circuit (cut cables), etc.
